California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment; OEHHA is a division within California Environmental Protection Agency. It conducts health-risk assessment of chemical contaminants in air to advise regulatory agencies including California Air Resources Board (CARB.) OEHHA has identified non-cancer risk toxic chemicals commonly found in indoor air. Click here to see the list of chemicals. In the list, you will see the chemical's hazardous airborne concentration level (worded as "exposure" in the list) when inhaled chronically and which part(s) of human body they impact. Note some of listed chemicals become carcinogenic at a certain greater concentration level than shown. e.g. acetaldehyde and formaldehyde. You can see detail information about each chemical by clicking the name. The other group of air toxicants are cancer-causing. For these, there is California's complete list of chemicals that cause cancer or reproductive toxicity. Note this is a very long list and may not be so convenient as it does not sort out airborne toxicants. For your reference, here is a link to current version of California State's toxic air contaminants list. (This is also long. Please scroll down to see both section 93000 & 93001) A lot of information about toxic chemicals can be found in these links, yet they represent just one type of indoor air "pollutants." to be controlled in architecture.
